Meet Our Team ...Martin J. Grunder, Jr.
Marty is a two-time young entrepreneur of the year in the State of Ohio and also was awarded Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the entire Midwest by the Small Business Administration. He was recognized by Ernst & Young as a Dayton/Miami Valley Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001. In 2003, Grunder Landscaping Company won the Better Business Bureau's prestigious Eclipse Integrity Award. This award recognized Grunder Landscaping's fair and honest dealings with their clients and vendors and their outstanding customer service. Marty is also an acclaimed public speaker and author. His book, "The Nine Super Simple Steps to Entrepreneurial Success", was named Book of the Year at the 2003 Independent Publisher Book Awards. An accomplished landscape designer as well, Marty has received numerous awards for his projects. On weekends you can find him working on his home landscape. Marty lives in Sugarcreek Township, Ohio with his wife Lisa, three daughters Emily, Kathleen and Lillian, and son, Grant. Paul M. Stoll

Marty Grunder is the 38-year old Founder and President of Grunder Landscaping Company. Marty started his landscaping business as a way of making money for college, and by the time he earned his B.S. at the University of Dayton, the company grossed over $300,000 and his story appeared in "The New York Times".
Paul grew up in the landscaping industry, working for his uncle who owned and operated a local nursery. He worked as an apprentice throughout his teenage years and became a crew foreman until he began his college career at Wright State University. After graduating with a Marketing degree, Paul worked for a local bank as an analyst and then a small business lender. After eight years in banking, the green industry was again beckoning and Paul started his own landscaping business. After operating successfully for several years, Marty Grunder persuaded Paul to join forces with Grunder Landscaping Company. Paul's passion for the green industry and his previous owner/operator experience help to keep company operations running smoothly.
Kent has a degree in Landscape Horticulture from The Ohio State University and has created breathtaking designs at some of the finest homes in the Miami Valley. He can turn even the most difficult landscape into an asset that a client will enjoy for years to come. Kent has over ten years of practical experience helping clients throughout the area solve their landscape concerns.
Chris is a Master Gardener, A registered Landscape Architect, and is a full member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. He is active in his community as a member of the City of Springboro Planning Commission and the B-W Community Land Trust. He has worked on many design and construction projects ranging from small residential to city streetscapes to larger campus master plans. Chris is also the former City Planner for the City of Beavercreek, gaining experience in urban planning, zoning and environmental design. Chris' diverse background enables him to work interactively with our entire team to make all of his projects highly successful.
Brent has a B.S. degree in landscape architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, one of the few institutions in the nation offering such a program. Brent is married and has two small children. He relocated to the Dayton area from Richmond, Virginia, where he was employed by E.D. Lewis & Associates. Brent is young and enthusiastic, bringing a new dimension of creative ideas and architectural design expertise to our clients. Equally important, Brent understands how to incorporate our client's own ideas and desires into a great project.
Walt Peter is one of the most knowledgeable landscapers in the local area and we are fortunate to have him at Grunder Landscaping. A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Landscape Horticulture, Walt is the field supervisor for all of our installation work. As Grunder's "go to" guy in the field, Walt is an expert in every aspect of our business, which includes landscaping, hardscaping, landscape lighting and water features. You can be sure that if Grunder Landscaping was working at your home, Walt was there making sure the project met your expectations and ours.
Joe Spatz, Fleet Manager, keeps us rolling ... literally. Grunder has 25 vehicles on the road each day and 17 trailers. In addition, our Landscaping and LandKeeping™ crews use 128 (and counting) individual pieces of equipment in the daily performance of their duties. Joe keeps all of our gear in great working order. People always ask us how we keep our trucks looking so good; well now you know.
