Our history ...In 1984, Marty Grunder, then a high school student and his brother, Rich, started a lawn mowing business as a way of earning money for college. As time went on and the number of lawn mowing opportunities increased in the Centerville, Ohio area, so did requests to do various other types of landscaping projects for their clients. An entrepreneurial spirit was developing and the two boys began to learn a lot about landscaping. Today ...Marty Grunder, Founder and CEO, is thoroughly involved in the business on a daily basis. He sells, he designs, he supervises work in progress, and he manages the administration ... but most of all, he mentors. Everyone on the Grunder Team is coached and immersed each day in the "Grunder philosophy". Personalized service, enthusiasm for every project, respect for each client and their property, innovation, teamwork, and the highest standards of quality and workmanship. If you don't "get it", then you don't work at Grunder Landscaping Company. Today the Grunder Team has 45 of the friendliest, most knowledgeable and dedicated landscapers you'll ever meet. To our clients, that means you will see the same familiar faces on your property, year after year. You will know them, and they will know your landscape inside and out. They will be well-groomed and uniformed. Our trucks in front of your home will carry our familiar logo, and will always be clean and expertly maintained. We use the highest-quality, state-of-the-art landscaping equipment, which is given daily "TLC" by our full-time mechanic, Joe Spatz. We have a wonderful facility located on 17 acres on Byers Road in Miamisburg and close to 30 vehicles on the road each day around the area. |

Marty recalls, "My Mom and Dad were always telling us to be careful and their fears were really heightened when I got my driver's license and was excited to drive the truck my Dad had loaned us. Always being eager to sell and make people aware of our business, I had a magnetic sign made up and proudly placed it on the side of our truck. My Mom thought the sign was great, but she offered up some words of caution to me and my brother." She said, "Remember that is our name of the side of that truck! Act accordingly, be polite, do the right thing, and keep our name in good standing." The power of those words may not have been entirely appreciated at the time by the two young men, but a seed of wisdom was sown that became their business philosophy. Marty entered the University of Dayton and continued to run his fledgling business while he earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, Grunder Landscaping Company moved to the forefront and became not only his career, but his passion.
