In 1984, when I was just 16 years old and my brother was 15, we bought a cheap lawnmower at a garage sale, and the next day Grunder Lawn Service was open for business. Twenty-five years later, that company is Grunder Landscaping -- a team of more than 40 professionals, an area leader in landscape design, construction, and maintenance, and a two-time winner of the Better Business Bureau's Eclipse Integrity Award.

When we started out, my brother and I knocked on doors in nearby Centerville, looking for folks who were willing to take a chance on a couple of ambitious but unproven teenagers. By giving our customers exactly what we promised them and working hard, we steadily expanded the business, and once I got my driver's license and convinced my Dad to let me borrow his pick-up truck, we were able to mow lawns in such faraway locales as Oakwood, Kettering, and Beavercreek.

We were passionate then about starting our business, and we're just as passionate today. We take pride in the work we do, in the landscapes we create, and in the lawns we maintain. We take pride in performing our jobs professionally, delivering personalized service, and approaching every venture with enthusiasm. And we take pride in you, our loyal clients, who have sustained us and made possible our first 25 years of success.

I'm often asked what the secret is to running a good business. Well, the secret is, there is no secret. Do what you said you would do, be honest, remain committed to quality and service, and treat others the way you want them to treat you. Every day we strive to uphold these standards at Grunder Landscaping, and we will continue to do so "in good economic times and in bad" for years to come.
